Happy Hump Day

Every run seems to get better and better!  Today I did three miles and ran all but maybe .25 of it.  I did do it on the treadmill (it was a nice day weather wise but my schedule was a little crazy so the dreadmill fit in better) which I think is a little deceptive for me but it is still three miles and I still ran a good 90% of it so I am still proud of my run!  I love having the sense of wanting to run.  My days are starting to be planned around my runs (well, that might be a little extreme but I do make sure and plan when my run is going to be rather than if I happen to get around to it).  I am sore pretty much everyday since I weight train on my off days but it feels like a good kind of sore- the kind that I worked hard to get.  I am planning on signing up for some races in April, probably just a 5K or a 5 miler, but it is exciting and I look forward to crossing some finish lines.  I am also hoping to join a women's running group next month.  They suggest being able to run three miles before joining (although it is by no means a requirement) so I am trying to build up to that first (and if today is any indication I am getting pretty close).  I think it will be great to run with a group and to get some coaching/training.  Right now my only thought is to just run but in the near future, if I want to improve, I need to start thinking about picking up my pace, working on tempo runs, and finding a race pace.  It's like a new adventure I am going on and I am really looking forward to it!

congrats on the run. i find myself planning many days around runs too.

its always fun to join a running group. im apprehensive to go over to the next town and join because I really dont want to feel like im holding people back. i guess i just have to get over my own insecurities....

I know exactly what you mean. Even if I am able to run three miles I am still worried that my slower pace might hold the group back. I think that my main motivation is that I really want to become a better runner but feel like I need some guidance on how to do that.
